Aarting Proudly Presents: The Next Great Designer Toy Challenge! You asked for it on the forum, so here it is – Now YOU can design your own custom platform toy! This is your chance to design the toy’s actual shape. That’s right, designers from all over the world will be able to customize something that you designed! This means that you’re now free to come up with any original shape you want, in any style (as long as it’s not overly violent/graphic/pornographic, that is!). What else? Sculpted in beautiful pure white plastic, these Do-It-Yourself pieces will be ready for you to color/paint/design at home. Submissions should have NO COLOR! What’s so special about these? These toys are not the typical objects you find in stores and are not mass-produced, “made-in-China” toys. In fact, they’re not “toys” at all. These are extremely limited edition, highly collectible sculptures. These designer multiples will be a limited production and will be distributed exclusively through Aarting. As usual, the community will vote and choose their favorite design. Remember, designers from around the world will be customizing your winning design so show up with your best ideas! Check out the details...

Hi Lulu, We see it as a limited edition platform object. Yes, you can make it simple. The more general the shape, the more people can interpret it when they paint it at home.
You're also free to design a really detailed, unique sculpture. It's really up to your imagination. Whether it's a simple Blankie-like shape or a detailed anime character- it's up to you!

i have a somewhat unoriginal idea, but it's something i haven't seen in my time of following the toy world. but before i decide to act on it, i want to know if you're looking for a toy that is solid, or one that can have holes? and by holes, i mean ones that would go straight through the toy. or is it easier to have one solid design?
....does that make sense? i'm not sure how to describe what i'm talking about without giving it away, which isn't something i want to do yet.

Hi Kate! Yes, you can have holes going through the body. Can't wait to see your design!

Can't wait to see your design! cool thanks :) and then i thought today, what if it was a toy with two pieces that could connect some way. could this be possible? or two interlocking pieces? or would it be easier to have one full toy?

Kate! Sure, you can have interlocking parts. Just make sure you design it so that it works correctly, and that the complete design fits in the given dimensions.

Thanks Guru, I plan on using it more this round. I am not familiar with all the different platforms out there and would appreciate the feedback on any of my designs. I don't want to enter something that has already been done or is similar. Kate! can't wait to see your design, I love the direction you are going with your questions. Sounds like it is going to be a very unique platform.

hello sir!
one more question:
ok, so i'm pretty sure i'm going to enter this time around. but here's the thing: my toy will be two pieces that come together as one. i'm not sure how to draw it out so that everything is properly shown without using to submit 2 sheets. granted, i haven't actually tried drawing it out yet, but i have a .....3-d model you might say, so i know exactly how it's gonna look like. so should i submit one sheet as the toy as a whole, and a second as the toy as two pieces?
many thanks.

Hi Kate! This sounds really interesting! I would just use one sheet, showing the complete design. You can add notes or additional sketches in the "notes" area that show or describe how it would interlock.
