hey atomic, i'd agree with you that a year is too long to wait to see any action.
but.....
as far as i know from what guru posted, there was a bunch of trouble with the makers in china, where the production company was. so they had to stop production altogether on series one and try another place.
guru posted about it a while ago. search the boards, it's there somewhere.
and sure, there are designs here that i think suck too, but keep your lid on dude. no need to personally attack anyone.

Wow Atomic, sorry you feel this way. I agree with you, a year is waaaay too long to wait for the designer series 1. I'm really sorry for that. We all are. 1) Here's the full rundown of what happened & where we are: http://www.aarting.com/forum/yaf_postst619_Designer-Series-1-updates.aspxBasically, we paid thousands of dollars for a great looking blank prototype of blankie, but the factory never followed through- they never actually finished color samples or mass production. We don't know what happened- they are a well known toy factory, and there's no way to find out. This means we've had to start over, from the beginning, with another factory. Our friends in the designer toy community have been super helpful in getting us in contact with other factories, but we're taking it slow and steady- we can't afford to waste another $5000. As I've mentioned before, we're not some huge media company- we're just a few designers who love making great stuff. Everyone here has been working overtime at other jobs to scrap together enough money to get designer's series 1 & 2 back on track. It WILL happen, it's just taking a stupid long time. 2) Gotta say, I think your attack on Incorrectly is really not necessary. We chose it because it has LOTS of potential- we think it's going to be badass once it's production ready, and think most will agree. Our mission at aarting includes allowing people access to toy design regardless of technological prowess. Just because you don't know illustrator or photoshop doesn't mean you can't make a cool design. Incorrectly has nothing to be ashamed of- it's going to look GREAT. 3) For those that don't know, we made special- "Limited Edition" shirts for the winner's of series 1 (series 2, your t-shirts will be coming once all designs have been announced :) We made these t-shirts as a "thank you". We did it for fun. You got it for free. We asked all the series one winners for their input before we made them. Some people had comments, changes & suggestions, and we followed their advise. You had plenty of time to email us back if you hated the design. If you really don't like it that much, feel free to mail it back to us. -Guru

Atomic1970 your post is totally disrespectful and uncalled. Guru has even created as he mentioned a topic explaining all the details behind the production problems I fail to see and understand why you put yourself in this weird demanding position. As for the designs Its more than obvious that we dont love ALL the designs, and thats the magic behind projects like this, to have a wide variety of styles and designs. Should we start asking all the members of aarting what they think about your design? Where is the respect for other people´s work? We are creating toys and characters here, and a community, based on a hard working project. AS for the Tshirt, I was speechless when I saw your derogatory comments on such a nice gift! Where were you when they asked for our input on the Shirt? You were free to suggest anything you wanted! And where all this hate comes from man? Relax! Tenemos que ser mejores personas en trato y forma, mas con colegas! Saludos Patricio

Hi Atomic,
When I began participating in Aarting I understood that hand drawn designs were not going to be faithfully reproduced and that aarting would assist in producing a final digital version based on my idea, and I was okay with that. The idea that someone without access to the computer programs or possessing artistic skills could participate and just throw out ideas was the best part of aarting. So, I know my designs were not as polished or professional as the rest and I was as surprised as you that my design was picked. I guess my designs were more about the idea than the final product and I was truly honored to be among a group of seriously skilled and talented people.
The comment about the T-shirt kind of stung. I mean I never even saw the design. My biggest issue isn’t that you hate my design but that you didn’t offer any reasons. I can handle criticism but I have kind of outgrown complaining. I mean you haven’t participated in any of the forums since your design was picked, you didn’t offer any comments or criticisms for series two or the D-I-Y contest. I mean at any time you could have entered your criticisms during the competition where I could have used them to improve my design. So I think your timing is off, the forum could have used your comments during the contest and at this point it is just a little too late.
Sorry for the long post.

ouch! for one, i'd like incorrect guessing to know that of course aarting (and me and others too!) can see the visualised final design in our heads, and atomic was way out of line there. you got picked coz your design is great and when is all polished up to its full potential, it'l be awesome! I can understand atomics frustration, but its not like he's invested money in it, or he has to put his life on hold while waiting!! the hiccups in production are unfortunate, but the attitude is way out of line... one of the things I loved LOADS about aarting was how supportive everyone was of everyone else! felt like a big arty online family! atomics shattered that with his negative attitude and views... what a pity... :(
I like things... with a side order of stuff.... :)

Everyone, I really appreciate all the comments- on both sides of the argument.
No one feels worse about the delay of Series 1 more than I do- it's something that we're actively resolving (oh, expect some good news soon :), but the mass production of toys overseas just takes a while to do.
lol, that's probably why we're the only ones crazy enough to really go for it ;)
I absolutely accept any and all blame for this ridiculously long delay, but we're getting through it, fixing it and will be better for it in the long run.

Oh, almost forgot. Thought it might be cool if some of the Series 1 winners could post some pics of you & the T-shirt?
They were meant as a "thank you" gift- not a substitute for the Designer series 1 toys.
:)

I think everyone has the right to have an opinion. Even Hitler did. But I just think there are different ways to say the same thing. You don't like the delay, incorrectly guessing's design AND the t-shirt. you could have asked nicely if there is any new update about production, and I'm sure Guru would gladly answer. I asked before, and he was always polite and helpful. You could have said that there are some things that you don't like about that design, and maybe make some suggestions on how to improve it. That would be nice and helpful, and I'm sure incorrectlyguessing would appreciate it. You could have made any suggestion about the t-shirt (that you got for free, first of all, so it's kind of rude to bash it after you had the chance to make any suggestions). I emailed SheRaBoom and gave her my opinion, and I was very thankful for such a nice gesture - that they weren't obligated to do at all, by the way. Good manners is everything, my friend. I know everyone in series 1 is DYING to see their pieces really made into production toys, but there are other ways to express yourself.
