i am having this wunderfull idea for a while now
how about the idea of making a diy blindbox series out of the designs submitted because there are around 15 artists involved in the contest so 15 designs and one big winner who is the secret of the series and gets to design the box etc that way the series is really what we are a community a aarting series and all people have the change in getting involved in the toy scene

maybe iff the price becomes to high we can pay for production together maybe 200 dollar a person etc.

hope my idea makes u all feel special and u feel what i feel

i would love a aarting series with a design of po! mawsy pepe and all others and ofcourse my own

by the way the size is 3 inch and the toys are packed in a polybag and a box like dunny
iff a person buys a case then the person gets the whole series to put in the cabinet and also some figures to customise and sell or showcase

nice idea walison, count me in! :D
i would love to see all the artists support this d.i.y aarting blindbox series
with one of their toy designs.

it's maybe a lot of work for the aarting team, so i'm also in readyness to support
the production of the prototypes with some bucks or even help to sculpt some of the
challenge toy concepts for further production, this would be wonderfull! :)

Hey William,
That's a pretty cool idea- hmmm...

I think the first thing to consider is that not all 15 designers may be able to put up money to have their d-i-y made, so maybe it only applies to those who can & want to get their d-i-y made.

Pepe- the resins on your site are AWESOME. Maybe this is a possibility?

let me think about it and talk to a few people...

anyone else have any input? Would love to hear all sides, comments & concerns with an idea like this~

well, now this getting really interesting... of course everyone has to agree with this,
so i'm also very curious what others think.

thx guru, i apprechiate your compliment.
i'm now for many years into toy prototyping, resin casting and stuff like that.
so i would say i have pretty much experience with small handcrafted series (up to 200 pieces..or so :)

i would love do do some of the designs as prototype and maybe casting a bunch of them as well,
but i had tonight a wicked idea for this thingy here:
how would it be, to split up the sculpting (or 3D-printing, for the characters where we have 3D data, like YEI from jec) for all the 3 inch toy prototypes
between some artists and the aarting team itself. then we do silicone molds of them and every
artist gets his own design as a 2 piece mold for casting. so when all is done and the aarting shop is ready to sell this blindbox series, every order goes trough aarting but then the artist (random princip) gets a mail by you and he/her can cast his own toys and even send them to the customer....
so we can splitt up the work a bit and the production cost are accetable...and as bonus
the customer will get the toy direct from the artist (personal touch) - but don't know witch and from who!

hope i could explain what i ment with my misserable english ;D

I'd go in on this if it were something we all were into.
Sweet idea.

Hmm. My mind is trying to wrap around the shipping that would be needed and how to make that fair. Hmm. I'll keeping thinking about that one.

no pepe i think molding it self is not an option because all toys needs to be in the series and need to be same quality etc and it is much better to put it in blindboxes like dunny

also a factory can put mulitple designs in one mould iff the toys are one colour and no print
and thats what we designed diy in white ;)

so around 6 design (3 inch) can go in one mould and cost around 1700 dollar
so we need two moulds thats 3400 and ofcourse the unit costs

12 designs is in my eyes the best option because some designers made multiple designs

srry for my euphoric advance and SheRaBoom has right it would be very difficulte to
handle the shipping :)

walison your proposal sound really realistic. didn't know this would be that affordable.
so we can do it in china, right? (i couldn't help myself, i'm just more the handcrafted guy myself lol ;)

so whats with the prototypes / master units? can we do them by ourself
or has the company witch do the vinyls to do them too?
