Here’s the instructions for submitting your designs...

a. Download the submission kit!

Click on the link below to download the new submission kit. Once opened, you’ll find the toy template and the thumbnail template in a variety of formats.

b. Create your design idea!

Designing your submission:
Take some time to design the best original idea you can think of. An aarting production template is included in the submission kit. Design your toy in a vector based art program like Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe Flash® or in a raster program like Adobe Photoshop®. If you are designing in a raster program, make sure you design the original at 100% actual size and at 300 dpi.

Hey, I don’t know any of those programs! Can I still submit a design?!?
Sure! We want everyone who wants to participate to have a chance at winning! If you’re unfamiliar with design programs, you can use the .pdf template version included in the “submission kit” download. Just print it out and create your design with color pencils, inks, paints, markers etc! Once your design is complete, scan it in (or go to a place like Kinko’s® that can do it for you). Make sure you provide all of the needed uploads as described above. If you win, one of our talented in-house designers will contact you and will recreate it for production.

Submissions:
Each designer MUST submit:

1) A thumbnail version of your design.
This is usually a picture of the “front” of your design, and is the first thing people will see on the scoring page. We’ve included this template in the submission kit for you to use. This file MUST be saved as a 72 dpi, RGB color .jpg under 30kb. The design must completely fit within the provided guidelines, head touching the top and feet touching the bottom. Make sure all thumbnail files are labeled with the following system:

username_thumb01.jpg

2) A 72 dpi version of your full design.
This is a low res copy of your full production template design that you will post in the “entries” forum. This will allow the community to view, score and comment on your full design. This file MUST be a 72 dpi, RGB color .jpg under 200kb. Make sure all posting files are labeled with the following system:

username_post01.jpg

File naming system note:
Remember to change “username” to the aarting member name you use on the site, and change the number in the file name for each design submitted. (Example: post01, post02, post03 etc.)

c. Get your work critiqued by the community!

After coming up with the best design you can, we encourage you to post a 72 dpi .jpg of the “front” image in the “Critique” folder on the forum.

The "Critique" folder on the Aarting forum allows you to post your design and ask for a community critique before it's submitted for judging. By using the "Critique" option before submitting, you can use the community to help get the submission up to par. This can greatly improve your chances of winning!

Check out the Critique forum here.

d. Submit your design to Aarting!

When your files are ready, upload the thumbnail image and the full production template to the “entries” forum. This will allow the community to view, score and comment on your full design.

Posting on the forum

Create a new thread for each design you submit. Make sure you upload it as a 72 dpi, RGB .jpg under 200kb This will insure that everyone’s design is the same size, and can be viewed the same way.

Check out the “entries” forum here.
